Sri Lanka Embassy in Ethiopia commenced work for the Year 2020 with a programme held by the Embassy staff at the Embassy premises on 01st January 2020.

The programme commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by Ambassador Sugeeshwara Gunaratna, followed by the singing of the national anthem. Thereafter, two minutes silence was observed to commemorate all those who had laid down their lives in defense of Sri Lanka. The staff took the Oath of the Public Service affirming their commitment to serve the people with honesty, efficiency and dedication in carrying out their duties as public servants.

The Ambassador, addressing the staff emphasized the need to continue to work as a team to implement the vision and policies of the Government of Sri Lanka led by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. He emphasized the need to further strengthen Sri Lanka’s relations with Ethiopia and countries of Africa in keeping with the ‘Revitalized Africa policy’ of the Ministry of Foreign Relations.
